What are your core beliefs?
Our core beliefs act as a filter for how we perceive ourselves and the world around us. Just like any other filter, they should be evaluated regularly because if they’re left unchecked, they can begin to distort our reality. What typically happens is our core beliefs can lead to automatic thought patterns that work against us. This can show up in the form of automatic thoughts.
We all have automatic thoughts – those constant, fleeting ideas that pop into our heads throughout the day. But what if these thoughts are actually working against you? The culprit? Often, it's our deeply held core beliefs.
Below are some of my core beliefs:
I’m a failure, it’s only a matter of time until everyone discovers it and I’ll be exposed.
I can be happy only if life unfolds according to my expectations.
I am only worthy if others deem me to be.
For me, these are some of the deeply rooted core beliefs that work together to keep me living small. Through coaching, I’ve discovered several core beliefs that were holding me back. Now, I’m able to rewrite the narrative and move forward with purpose and confidence.
